We offer a program called Beach Buddies that invites community members to spend a few hours with an adoptable dog, giving them a break from shelter life and helping staff observe their personalities outside the kennel. Outings can include walks, car rides, or quiet time at home, and dogs must be returned the same day. On your first visit, you’ll provide a valid Virginia driver’s license and proof of residence, and a VBSPCA staff member will review program guidelines. We provide a leash, harness, treats, and waste bags, and ask participants to share feedback after each outing.

A suggested donation of $10 is appreciated but entirely optional. Participants are encouraged to share photos of their outings by emailing marketing@vbspca.com.
